INTRO...I've created this thread as a collection of spray logos for use in Source engine games/mods, such as Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead.
Looking for some new spray logos to use? In search of more websites to download? Or are you a spray logo artist willing to share your logos? Perhaps you've come seeking some starter pointers on creating spray logos yourself? Or have you just randomly wandered your way into this thread?
Whatever it may be, you've come to the right place!
This thread will function as:
- Spray logo archive: I will be posting the spray logos I have created, as well as ones submitted by other users, for everybody to download and use free of charge. I will of course add more as I come by. Additionally, I will also link to websites that host spray logos for people looking for a bigger collection of goodies.
- Quick tips on making sprays: Whenever I find some tiny bits of techniques on making sprays that are not covered in mainstream tutorials, I will post them here. Submissions are of course welcome. Let me remind you not to confuse this as a starter's guide for new spray artists that will teach you every basic step of how to create a spray; for that purpose, instead, I will provide external links to tutorials on other websites.
- Spray Request Center: That is right, I will be accepting requests from users to make sprays for you! Have an image that you want to use as a spray, but no idea how? Let me do all the work. Just make sure your request follows the guideline (covered later in the post).
THREAD GUIDELINESAll users must follow these rules when posting, in addition to
global forum rules. Any posts or contents that fail to meet these requirements will result in post edit or removal, and repeated violation will be strictly punished!Using submitted sprays:1.
All users are free to use any spray logos downloaded from this thread at their own leisure. Sharing is what this thread is for! This applies to non-registered users as well; anyone who can see this thread should be able to download sprays, and use them with proper application to the game.
2.
Usage of downloaded sprays are strictly limited to in-game spraying purposes ONLY. Anything else is not intended by the author(s) of the spray logos and may violate the right of the spray in question. This is to say, do not use those sprays to do creepy stuff, like create internet memes etc. "Personal fun" may not be a valid excuse since you spray stuff to show it to other players in the game in the first place.
3.
Redistribution of any spray logos posted in this thread must only be allowed under permission of their respective authors. Ask them if you want to upload these sprays onto a bigger archive like FPSBanana so they'll receive the attention they deserve under the light of the mainstream medium. Just make sure you credit them though, unless the author wishes to remain anonymous; obviously crediting yourself for someone else's work is out of question. Since we're on topic, all of MY sprays may be freely redistributed.
4. Similar to above,
modification of the sprays must be done with the permission of the authors. Making small noticeable changes on someone's spray and calling it your work isn't a good spirit. You're free to mess with my sprays, though. Outdo me by improving them!
5.
Under absolutely no circumstances whatsoever should these sprays be used in commercial purposes, i.e. sell them for money. This is just super-common sense, right? While you may argue that not all cases of this may be illegal or not or whatever, it still is not the most ethical thing to do, and if you cannot agree with this, then you really have no place in here,
Submitting sprays:1.
If you want to share your work with everyone, just post it here and I'll add them to the archive. You can provide your own download link, or just attach it to the post. Make sure they meet the following though.
2.
Please do not submit excessively offensive sprays. Aside from the obvious examples like pornography or gore, profanities should be kept to minimum. I won't be too strict about this, since I actually include swear words in some of my sprays, but I would still like to encourage you to keep your sprays clean. If you really need to include profanities in your spray, do it in a humorous way that won't offend some specific person (e.g. "eff you Bob!") or group. Sprays that contain nothing but a simple text of swear word is just tasteless and not welcome. Also, try to remember that you're not on /b/ here; some people may get your joke, but others may not like it.
3.
Submit only functional sprays. By "functional" I mean your sprays should be a VTF, TGA. JPG or BMP. I recommend converting your sprays into VTF using
VTFedit as this is what Source ends up converting into anyway, and is usually smaller in KB than other format, so they will be transferred to everyone who sees it. TGA is also acceptable though. JPG and BMP are not recommended as they take up more filesize. If you consider yourself a sophisticated spray artist, you should take some time converting your sprays from JPG/BMP.
4.
Do not submit someone else's work without permission. OK, apparently you should know you shouldn't credit yourself for someone else's work, but I don't want to be held responsible for hosting a file whose author wishes it to be kept to himself only.
Requesting a spray1.
If you have an image you would like to use as a spray, post it here and I will try to make a spray out of it. But please read the following first before you ask me to do anything.
2.
Please do not ask me to make offensive sprays. All of what has been said above applies to this. If your image violates the rule of this forum, then you're out of luck (though chances are that your spray will also violate Steam's terms of service anyway).
3,
I would appreciate if you would specify the style or your final spray. For example you may want the background color to be transparent, in which case I will try to make that happen as much as my Photoshop skill lets me.
4.
Do not pester me to finish the work. As much as I generally HATE being rushed to do something, there is no guarantee I will deliver your product on time. I may just not have the time to work on the spray. Sometimes I may not have the skill to bring up anything of satisfiable quality (in which case I will apologize and tell you honestly that I couldn't finish it). An effective solution to this, though, is to learn spray creation yourself!
