This is a review for a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game called Myth War.
First, this game looses a few points since the download is 656 MB. It would be good if they could get it within a reasonable range for those on lower bandwidth. I download about 10 MB/minute on DSL, so it took me over an hour. This is really the largest flaw in the game though.
The graphics are pretty cool in my opinion. They could be better, but I don't seem to be bored with them often. The graphics are all 2D. There is a lot of limitation in how customizable your appearance is, but the graphics are interesting enough in and of themselves to make up for that, I think.
The combat system is pretty interesting. The game uses an active time battle system similar to some from the Final Fantasy series. The music played during battles is pretty awesome too.
Music, for me, makes or breaks a game. The music in this game is somewhat diverse and gives off a good vibe. I've heard better, but I've also heard much worse.
Character development is somewhat basic. There are four stats you can train, and for each level you get four stat points. Every stat also gains one stat point automatically when you level up. The skill system is interesting. Your starting skill set is limited, but using a skill a lot trains it and opens the door for other things.
One of the big bonuses for this game is the pet system. Pets are almost a nescessity. You could play without one if you really wanted to. The pet plays like a second player character in battles. Pets tend to grow faster than the player, so battling with a pet makes training easier. Pets also learn skills in a similar way to the main player character.
Another bonus, for me at least, is the chat bar on the side. It's always moving with new chat. This gives me the feeling that this is a busy world, but not so busy that I can't also do my own thing.
This game also runs in a window by default, which is usually a plus. You can chat with people on your favorite instant messanger while playing and such.
Overall I like this game.
