The game Killzone for PS2 is a fun online game. But with ps3 and killzone 2 coming out i bet the online play wont be as popular and eventually it will be taken offline. It would be cool to reverse engineer the online service/ game so that a private server could be launched after the official service gos down. I really dont know much about ps2 online but i have some computers that could be used for capturing packets. Im trying to get ahold of cheese to see if cheese is interested HAHA.

hmm i like the idea, the same thing happend with phantasy star online.but how hard would it be im guessing alot is server side and also hidden on the game itself so if u can do it before the server goes down i dont know it would take sometime.

The only way I can think of doing it is seeing what information the game sends to the server and what the server's response is. That in and of itself will take some doing...

Yeah i wish i could find someone to help me mess around with it. For people with ps2's that dont have network adapters they must buy one used now. Sony stopped making them around the time they started selling the slim ps2's because they have one built in. I have found some people on arcadia that have ps2 online but not killzone and some people that have killzone but not ps2 online. It sucks that the network adapters are over 60 dollars on ebay. You CAN buy a cheap offbrand USB network adapter but those have problems with SONEYs little authentication thing called DNAS. So if your going to get one you probably want the real deal.

Sony stopped making them? I guess it's too late to get into Final Fantasy XI for PS2 then, since the HDD only fits in the non-slim PS2s.
Actually I just remembered seeing a post somewhere yesterday about a recent update to the PS3 that allows it to create a sort of virtual drive for games that want to use the PS2 HDD, so it's probably possible to play it on PS3.
