Lazy ol' me decided the other night at 3:30 am to start making a game. Go me. So far I have 20 maps (screens) and various other things like a few weapons/npcs/monsters/spells and such.
I still dont have a dungeon though, I made the start of one but I need some graphics for it (I have em, theyre just not in yet). At this point, I dont have much of a theme going, its more of a "crank out maps and items as fast as you humanly can" sort of thing. I do have the next 2 days off of work though, so my totals could concievably double in the coming few days.
Some early things im debating are:
1. Name of currency (currently Chicken Heads) Gold or anything like that isnt what im looking for
2. Name of teh game (Nage's Bar and Grill makes me giggle but I should change it)
3. Should I even mess with adding music?
4. If I should try to obtain help or not (leaning toward no but I have ZERO knowledge of scripting but im not sure ill need it).
5. If I should get all new (or at least non-default) gfx.
6. Classes.
A. Starting points (str, def, speed, magic)
B. Number of Classes in general.
C. Class specific weapons/armor.
That list is actually way bigger but my brain would die if I would try to analyze any more than that at one time.
Making a game is actual easier than I remember using this engine. I once had a game with like 50-70 maps + 10 classes + several towns and so on. Im hoping in a week or so, if I can keep myself into it, to have that much at least.
I also need to relearn my sprite editing skills to have a LITTLE more breathing room with npcs/monsters/classes. The default only has maybe 40-50 different sprites but the majority are useless to me.
Overall, this is about the only project ive been able to get myself motivated to work on in like 3 years so im hoping it wont be a complete flop. At the minimum im hoping for a player friendly world that could also double as a chat enviroment. It is all a bit nerve wracking though since I havent dabbled in online gaming much. Ill try to update this as soon as I get some more things into it and eventually (hopefully) ill get a version worth playing up.
